Understanding Pain Before Treating It

Interventional Pain Management in Dallas, TX

Pain care should start with understanding the problem, not choosing a procedure.

At EnCare MD, Dr. Nenna Nwazota, who is board-certified in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine, provides interventional and multimodal care for patients with spine, joint, nerve, musculoskeletal, and other pain concerns. Her approach emphasizes non-opioid treatment strategies while recognizing that good pain care is rarely one-size-fits-all.

Care Built Around the Cause

A focused evaluation comes first. Dr. Nwazota looks at the pattern of your pain, what makes it better or worse, what you have already tried, and what your examination, imaging, or other records show. The next step is based on those findings, whether that means a procedure, medication strategy, infusion therapy, additional testing, coordination with another clinician, or a more conservative plan.

Individualized Pain Treatment

Start With the Evaluation, Not the Procedure

Pain in the same part of the body can have very different causes. Back pain, for example, may involve a spinal joint, disc, nerve, muscle, or more than one structure. Pain that travels into an arm or leg can suggest nerve irritation. Hip or shoulder pain may come from the joint itself, nearby soft tissues, a bursa, or a combination of factors.
That is why a consultation at EnCare MD begins with the clinical picture rather than the assumption that you need an injection. Sometimes the likely source of pain becomes clear. Sometimes several factors appear to be contributing. And sometimes the evaluation shows that an interventional procedure is not the best next step.
The treatment should follow the findings, not the other way around.

Comprehensive Pain Management

Pain Conditions We Evaluate

EnCare MD evaluates a range of pain concerns, including:
Symptoms can offer important clues, but they do not always tell the whole story. The evaluation helps determine which findings are most likely contributing to your pain and what type of treatment deserves consideration.

A Smarter Approach to Pain

Interventional and Multimodal Treatment Options

When an interventional procedure fits the findings, EnCare MD offers several image-guided and office-based treatment options, including:
Trigger-point injections
Joint and bursa injections
Ultrasound-guided musculoskeletal injections
Epidural steroid injections
Sacroiliac joint injections
Facet injections
Medial branch blocks
Nerve-root injections
Peripheral nerve injections
IV pain infusions

These treatments are used for different reasons. An epidural steroid injection, for example, may be considered when symptoms and examination findings support irritation of a spinal nerve. A medial branch block can help evaluate whether the small joints along the spine are contributing to pain. Joint, bursa, muscle, and peripheral nerve injections are used for other specific pain patterns.

The procedure is chosen because it fits the problem being evaluated, not simply because it is available.

Advanced Imaging Support

Image Guidance When Precision Matters

For selected procedures, Dr. Nwazota uses imaging to help visualize the anatomy and guide treatment more precisely.
C-arm fluoroscopy provides real-time X-ray imaging during certain spine and joint procedures. Ultrasound guidance allows the physician to see soft tissues, joints, bursae, and nearby structures during selected musculoskeletal and peripheral nerve procedures. Digital X-ray and laboratory support are also available when they are useful to the evaluation or treatment plan.

What to Expect at Your Pain Consultation

Your first visit is focused on understanding what is contributing to your pain and deciding what makes sense next. Dr. Nwazota may review:
If prior imaging or records could help with the evaluation, the team may ask you to provide them. A consultation does not automatically lead to a procedure. Depending on what the evaluation shows, the next step may be interventional treatment, conservative care, additional testing, or coordination with another clinician.
